We hope everyone who was on the expedition this weekend had a good event and is not too tired.

We now need to make sure all the kit we loaned out is dealt with and returned this Tuesday. If you took any CAG kit home please pay attention to the following to make sure you deal with it in the correct manner:

  • Tents: the tents need to be hung up to dry in a garage or somewhere and they need to be CLEAN inside and out. We have just opened a tent that wasn’t cleaned the last time it was used and found mould, mildew and some biology experiment all over the inner lining that have had a pretty severe impact on the tent. The tent MUST be completely dry or it will rot when we put it away until it is used the next time.
  • Sleeping Bags: these must be dry inside and out and checked inside and out for any marks or damage. Please DO NOT wash them – hanging for air for a day or so will be good enough. Make sure to attach the bag to the sleeping bag if you don’t bring it back packed.
  • Sleeping mats: please wipe them down and roll them up as tightly as possible with the number on the outside so we can read it. We were very clear when we loan the mats that we want the mats and the straps returned – if you don’t have the two straps you need to get some new ones (not elastic bands or bits of rope, string etc) or replace the whole item, they aren’t expensive. We will advise the model to purchase if required.
  • Trangias: the stoves need to be clean inside and out and must be a complete number matching set. Each and every item in a set is numbered and must match! Each set will have the following:
    • Burner
    • Yellow burner bag
    • Burner holder (perforated pan)
    • Wind shield (with brackets to hold pot)
    • Two pots
    • Frying pan
    • Burner controller
    • Burner screw lid
    • Handle
    • Strap

The pots, pans, windshield and burner holder must be scrubbed with a Brillo pad to get them clean and back to their original condition. Please DO NOT put them in the dishwasher – dishwashers dissolve the coatings and the aluminium.

  • Maps, compasses, survival bags, first aid kits, fuel bottles: please make sure you have the items that were signed out to you or your group, give them a clean if they need them and bring them back this Tuesday.

That’s it, please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for your help!!
