Please can you tell us, as soon as possible unless you already have, your requirements for skiing after half term: whether you need an instructor or are a recreational skier (and CAN ski) and if you want to bring a friend. Cost is £10 per person regardless of ability or whether you need an instructor.
Tomorrow night we are in Bickenhill with a common program between the Smalls and Bigs.
It’s a regular start with a couple of activities and then we are staying inside to do some First Aid work as the first expedition of the season is coming up in a couple of weeks time and we need to get some skills going. Everyone will be inside for the evening, you don’t need to bring outdoor clothing, we aren’t planning on being outside.
We are running a weekend camping and hiking trip to Andy’s Farmhouse in Ditton Priors on the weekend of March 17th – 19th 2017. It’s an awesome weekend which promises lasting memories.
The trip will focus on a training weekend for the Duke of Edinburgh participants (Bronze and Gold) and is a MUST for them, but is open to all members of CAG. During the day, the DofE group will be continuing their practical training outside of the “classroom” to get ready for the real expedition in the summer and the smalls will be doing similar introductory training for D of E expeditions that will take place later in their CAG career.
There will be a fair amount of walking but it is also a really fun weekend. We’ll be cooking food on an open fire and watching movies on the biggest outdoor screen with surround sound. There will be lots of time to chill out and it’s a unique opportunity to woodland camp somewhere which isn’t open to the general public.
The trip information is attached for the full details and application instructions.

Due to the weather, we won’t be able to do our Barston to Balsall Common event tomorrow so we will have to do it another night – looks like it is going to be pretty miserable weather to be out in tomorrow.
There are two separate plans this week:
Sorry all, the program is still being worked on as we speak. To keep you up to date without it: next week is expedition training for those undertaking that, and it is week two of the new term team challenge. There are two parts to the team challenge next week:
It was great to see everyone again after the Xmas break!
The program is on it’s way, almost done. The only thing you need to know for this week is bring your trainers!
Hope you had a good break – we are back for the new term tonight.
We are going to be inside tonight so don’t worry about wearing outdoor shoes or waterproofs.
Please remember to bring back:
- D of E registration form if you are year 9 or above and haven’t yet done so
- Ski Trip Registration form
The deadline for applications for the ski trip is this Friday so still a few days yet if you are still thinking about it. For anyone who is thinking about taking part in the trip but has any concerns about funding it, get stuck in: we have a year of fundraising ahead of us to help everyone take part. If you have any questions or concerns about it let us know and we’ll give you all the info and any other help we can.
If you are bringing any newcomers with you tonight, they are very welcome, please can you let us know beforehand?
Doors open at 6.50 ready for a 7pm start – finish at 9pm.
See you later!
Happy New Year to everyone – hope you all had a great Xmas and got everything you wanted.
We are back next week, Jan 10th in Bickenhill.
Hope the Xmas break is going well for everyone and you are looking forward to some fun plans for the New Year.
We will have our program for the trips for the year and nightly program for next term out shortly. In the meantime we wanted to bring you up to date with out collection for the Cameron Grant Memorial Trust.
